I bought a SkyEye T-Link about 5 years ago, and it has been working perfectly since then, up until a month or so ago. I can probably count the number of failed channel changes before the last month on one hand, wheras in the past month I have had a dozen failures.

For instance when putting in 101, sometimes it will miss the first 1, put in the 0, and Sky assumes it wants a radio channel. But I never see it trying to send either of the 1's.

But it does not always happen. It certainly seems to happen most often for EastEnders, but then it will work fine an hour later recording something on Sky One (106).

I have tried the obvious things (like rebooting Tivo, rebooting the sky box, cehcking the code and speed (PACE 20017 medium)), but it still goes wrong.

While things HAVE changed before Christmas (e.g. I replaced the Sky box with a Sky+ one) the channel changes over Christmas were all perfect, so I do not think it is that. And I cannot think what else may have changed at my end in the past month.

I could understand it if it saw other infrared signals, and held off sending the later digits. But the fact that I never see the 1's being sent at all sometimes would seem to indicate a different problem.

Thinking about it, it is often the first thing being recorded each evening that fails, but I cannot remember if this is always the case. Any thoughts? Could it be the Sky+ box is in a "sleepy" mode at 7:30pm when trying to record EastEnders, but the fact I have a failed channel change wakes it up somehow so the next one works?

I am at a loss as to what to try next. Any advice gratefully received!

Could the sky+ box have gone into auto-standby mode? If so, i think you can switch this mode off from the service menu.

I will give it a check, but I don't think so. At least, it is not causing Tivo to reboot if it is!

A LONG while ago (so long there was still Tivo vustomer service in the UK!) they added some IR codes to the database that preceded channel changes with a <sky> button push

This was to get Sky boxes out of multiscreen mode but I'm thinking that this ought to also wake up a standby-ed box?

Of course, apart from remembering that there were such codes, I have no idea what they are :(

Another EastEnders failure tonight - this time it saw both the 1's but no 0 was sent. A subsequent change to 106 at 8pm worked fine.

The Sky+ box is definitely not in standby, as it is still showing the previous channel it was on. And the code of 20017 is the one that sends the Sky button before the channel change anyway.

A puzzler!

I have had this problem big-time of late, despite trying several different Sky 'brands' on the TiVo to go with my Pace box (I think it's on Sky Digital at the mo, but it was on Grundig previously. 20016 Slow, Medium or Fast make no odds - they can all fail at some point, even when I'm out of the house and there's no bobbins energy-saving lights on.

It's got to the point, so I don't have to download it later, that just in case it doesn't record, I'll set up a standalone 5 mins on BBC1 (North West) in my case, prior to setting up Doctors on BBC1 Scotland (ch971, and the channel with the least channel of scrunching the credits at the end, and as it's different from 101 it won't change from 101 to 101 and think it's gone from a TV to a radio channel).

However, even that failed the other day when the first 101 didn't complete, then neither did the 101 at the end as it came out of that recording, and then five mins later it would've kicked in for 971 which failed too! Grrr!! I've cleaned the IR sensors and tried everything I can think of but no joy to stop this from never failing.

After much grief from my significant other (personally I think Tivo is showing good taste by refusing to record EastEnders!) I have taken out the Sky+ box, and put back the original Thomson Sky Digital box. And now channel changes are working perfectly again.

As this proves there is no problem with the Tivo IR socket, or the SkyEye, I can only reach the conclusion that Sky+ does not get on with the SkyEye. And the layout of the lounge makes the front blaster a bit hit and miss.

I would use the Tivo wands, but I do not have them any more (gave them to my sister before Christmas - typical!). So...anyone have any wands they are not using that they want to donate? I am happy to pay postage, plus a little something!

Thanks,
