Lately my neighbor bought a DirecTivo unit and gave me her old TCD649080. Ive found out that my tuner is a Series 2 and requires prom editing to be able to hack the unit. If anyone has any info or how-to's for someone who has hacking experience, please post links or any advice you would think would help me in my end game. Im looking to set up TivoWeb or some similar program for UI control and also upgrading my drive size.

All advice and tips are greatly appreciated!

Google omikron prom (the actual site is a forbidden here). I have a pair of 649s and a pair of old Series 1 SVR-2000s. The S1s are hacked to the gills, but once I figured out everything that you can do with Desktop, TivoPlaylist, pyTivo, Galleon, Harmonium etc on the S2s I decided that hacking the prom wasn't really worth the expense.

You don't need any hacks to swap out the drive. I ordered preconfigured 500GB drives for mine the same day that I ordered the TiVos. It's even cheaper to buy the drive yourself and use InstantCake, but at the time I was rebuilding after a lightning bolt burned down part of my house, and just couldn't be bothered.
