I saw some similar threads, but my setup is different than most.
I live in an apartment complex that provides free internet. The connection is built into a wall outlet, and I use a cat5 ethenet cable to connect my laptop to the internet.
We just switched from someone called Pavlov Media, and it worked fine connecting my TiVo series 2 DVR. I would activate the box with its MAC address, plug in the cord, and be ready to go.
A few days ago, we switched to TWC Roadrunner. I have the computer hooked up fine, but the TiVo keeps giving me N17 errors, or telling me that I need to make sure my firewall is not blocking certain ports. The device cannot even connect to TiVo's service to check account status, etc.
I do not have a typical router set up, so most of the other threads I poked through will not work.
