So I just got my first Tivo and am very excited. I have a ton of movies and tv shows I have purchased through Itunes. I upgraded to the professional desktop so I could transfer those to my Tivo. After all, they are simply quictime (mpeg4) files, I believe. But it doesn't seem to be working. I didn't think there was any drm on the tv shows, as I have played then in just quicktime without using Itunes - was I wrong? Is there DRM that is preventing me from playing these on the Tivo, or have I done something wrong on the setup? Many thanks in advance,
Drew:confused:

At this point, almost anything you download from iTunes has DRM on it.

I know recently they got rid of drm for music and music videos - I paid a fee to upgrade my stuff and it works. I was hoping they did, or will do that for movies.

You can transfer from TiVo to iTunes. but not the other way around if you bought stuff in iTunes because the non drm stuff i believe is only for the Music.

I am not sure of the deal that allowed DRM be removed on the music, but I would say, at the root the RIAA and MPAA are pulling the strings, and the MPAA is more protective of "their" content, hence their reluctance to de-protect their content.

Video purchased from the iTunes store has DRM protection. You can only play the video on an authorized computer, iPod or thru AppleTV. See here for more info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2729?viewlocale=en_US#5
