Hi

My son gave me his series 2 unit which has 2 years left on the contract so I connected this unit to my network. The unit shows up but "no programs available" is all I get. I rebooted my series 3 and still no luck. Could this be because they are different accounts? I asked Tivo to transfer the remaining time to me but they said no and want $99 a year for the other unit. Any way around this (I originally paid the 3 years for my son).

Never mind my previous post (which I deleted). Yes, it's because they boxes are on different accounts.

If the units aren't on the same account you cannot communicate between them, sadly.

Rather than moving your son's Tivo to your account which can't be done w/o losing it's subscription, it may be possible to move your tivo to your son's account?
You could also lie about the facts and say that they've been in the same house all along and that you never had a reason to transfer recordings until now so you never realized they were on separate accounts. That shouldn't be a problem especially with your name on the credit card on your son's account.
