Not sure why I can't play the recordings anymore but I get an error message. A few months ago this was working fine. Now when I download a program to my computer and click on it to open it it gives the error "windows media player cannot play the file. The type might not be supported or you might not have the correct codec loaded." This happens for all files including some that were downloaded quite some time ago and used to work, in other words this is not just happening with new files, but newly downloaded and some that are much older and used to work. This error message appears on the Vista desktop upstairs, so I loaded Tivo desktop 2.62 onto the XP laptop and any file I download just hangs when WMP opens, so It's not the desktop machine. Is there a problem with Tivo Desktop 2.62?

It sounds like you are missing a codec. Check out the 'sticky' at the top of the Home Media form.

Thanks, I knew this was probably posted in the wrong section. In my haste I never noticed the home media section.

Thanks
