View Full Version : TiVo Suggestions working too well

Now that the Suggestions feature is working again, I'm seeing the scheduled suggestions in my DailyMail, and I don't like what I see...
I don't use the Thumbs up/down feature except for programmes I really like, for example, US crime series, etc., so I don't understand why I am seeing in the ToDo list:
- several radio programmes being scheduled (BBC Radios 4 and 7 in particular): I don't listen to the radio via TiVo.
- Cbeebies stuff!
- DAVE Signoff - 4am until 8am of nothing!
Can anyone advise how to clean up my Suggestions? Should I neutralise all my Thumbs Up programmes?
TIA
Paul

Looks like your TiVo needs some more thumbs information.
If there is anything in the suggestions list you don't like then give it a single thumbs-down (especially the Signoff). Then what I did was go through the programme guide every so often and give a single thumbs up to the types of programme I would watch but don't have a SP or WL for.
It can be a bit hit and miss for a while, but my TiVo now (mostly) records the stuff I want to see. Don't go OTT on the thumbs up or downs though as this can very quickly screw things up ;)
Another thing to suggest is to use mikerrs suggs script. You can turn off TiVo's suggestions and then tell suggs to only record programmes you have definitely given a thumbs up to and nothing else.

If you don't ever watch these channels, I would imagine that removing them from the "Channels I Receive" would stop suggestions recording shows on them.

As above really, I find you get quite a lot of suggestions from Radio 4 and 7 and put it down to them having good listings data and lots of cross genre programming. Tivo doesn't know they're radio only.
In the end I removed all the Freeview radio channels from the list of channels I receive to eliminate the problem.
The sign off thing is just weird but one thumb down should stop it reoccurring.

Does anyone know how long "thumbs" data is kept?
The reason that I ask is that I have been fairly busy this week telling our Tivo that we don't want to watch various programmes. What I can't remember for certain is whether or not I have added  to the same programmes in the past...

Don't forget any programme you choose to record gets a thumbs up automatically.
I don't think any thumbs up/down are forgotten - unless you wipe them out manually.
