I'd like to map my TCD649080 series 2 to my network so I can use my tivo's HDD as a temporary backup while I rebuild my notebook. I've tried searching, but I'm not sure what search terms to use as everything I've read is talking about wireless or the Tivo Desktop program.

links to relevant threads and posts highly appreciated.

thanks
James

Short answer - you can't

Long answer, if you could hack a Dual Tuner (not sure that you can, personally don’t have interest in it anymore, probably requires a soldering iron and a ROM programmer), you could then FTP data to it.

With Tivo Desktop you could put mpeg files on it, but that’s about it

Even if you hack it the largest file system partition on the Linux side is 125MB IIRC. The rest of the drive is Tivo's mfs database, which would brick the unit if you overwrote parts of it.
