I called cox to find out if/when I should be getting the latest batch of HD channels (Spike, MTV, CNN, HGTV, TLC, AMC, Travel, Broavo, Planet Green).

When I said I didn't have them, Cox's answer was to send out a tech.

Is anyone getting them? I live in Surprise.

So what the phone tech failed to mention is that all of the above listed channels are SDV channels. Apparently all the phone tech are trained to do with tivos is to send a field tech to fix a problem even though it's a heand-end/corporate issue and not an actual signal issue.

And of course, Atlanta COX still hasn't released the Tuning Resolvers so we're just stuck waiting for the time being.

Those channels are not SDV in the Phoenix metro area. I get all of them without a tuning adapter which is not yet available here. I haven't seen a summary or map but from comments on the AVS Forums I' say those channels are available in many areas, at least in the central and northern parts of Phoenix and environs. It is hard to piece together the individual postings to get a good idea of the coverage and, selfishly, I stopped paying much attention after the channels became active where I am, 35th and Bell.

Still waiting for them here (Chandler on the Tempe/Phoenix border), last rumor I heard was January 30th - so keeping my fingers crossed! Not sure why these new channels couldn't be rolled out to everyone at the same time like in the past.

As I recall from other postings it is a bandwidth problem which Cox is addressing through infrastructure upgrades. Cox-Phoenix did not build its own infrastructure in many places. Instead, it acquired older companies who built using different equipment and materials. If you are in an area previously served by such a smaller company the upgrades may not be finished and there may be no bandwidth available yet,

We were told on 1/20 that we would get the new HD channels on 1/29. That was a "firm date" for NE Mesa. But we have nothing new yet. We were also told that the TA's would be available by the middle of February. We called after getting the lattest rate increase notice.

Now we are being told the new HD channels will be added in May and no one knows why anyone told us 1/29?

Looks like the next wave of HD channels is on its way. There was a notice in today's Arizona Republic:
Attention Cox Customers
Between May 19th and August 31st Cox will be launching the following High Def programming in Phoenix metro areas: Speed
Fox News
E!
FX
BET
VH1
CMT
Disney
Cartoon Network
ABC Family
Nickelodeon
NBA TV
Encore
Biography
Fox Business
MLB Network
HBO2Televisons and other consumer devices equipped with a CableCARD may require a digital set top box in order to receive all programming options offered by Cox Digital Cable.I'm guessing the disclaimer at the end means it'll require a SDV box.

Is anybody having any issues with the Palladia channel (music videos)? The channel is still at 717 for me, but for some reason the Tivo program guide thinks its on 718, and has no program info for 717. This is a problem because when it finds something on my wishlist it records 718 which is dead air right now.

Comedy Central HD (CCHD, 751) just showed up in my channel list but I don't seem to get it yet.

Still waiting for the first round of HD channels (CNN, Bravo, SciFi, etc) on the Tempe/Chandler border - anyone else? I rec'd the TiVo update about Comedy Central HD, but alas that's showing up unavailable as well. Not that I am envious that it seems like most of the Valley has these channels already - the 'Battlestar Galactica' series finale was just gorgeous in non-HD! :-)

I don't have current knowledge but Tempe not too long ago was a 550Mhz system and cox had already reclaimed analog channels above 23 ( I think). My guess is they haven't finished upgrading the plant yet.

This is so irritating. I'm at Lindsay & Riggs and we have not gotten the new channels yet. My guide is all screwed up and my wife is constantly complaining that she selects a channel only to realize it's one we don't get. Sure, I could manually remove the channels and check them every week or so, but I don't think I should have to go to that effort. Isn't that why I'm paying Tivo? If it were free (like my Windows Media Center setup), I could understand.

I'm in southeast Phoenix on Tempe border and still waiting for Spike, SciFi, HGTV, etc. I'm also having intermittent problems with the tuning adapters and TIVOs themselves, but that's a different thread. May be a signal strength problem.

I'm at Higley and Riggs (just down the road from BrianAZ), and we got the new HD channels about a week or so ago. They also added Comedy Central HD (751) to the mix of previously stated new HD channels.

Also, based on info from this post (http://www.landlpcservices.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=941&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=390&sid=f05fae43776639cfba0c18e91c4b8373) on the AZ HDTV forums, there's a whole new batch of HD channels on the way:

FX HD 727
VH1 HD 730
SPEED HD 731
Disney Channel HD 735
Nickelodeon HD 737
ABC Family HD 739
Fox News HD 747
CMT HD 749
E! HD 752
Cartoon Network HD 753
BET HD 759
NBA TV HD (Must have S & I Tier) 768
Encore HD (Must have Movie Tier) 771
Bio HD (Must have Variety Tier) 772
Fox Business News HD (Must have S & I Tier) 774
MLB Network HD (Must have Gateway Tier) 775
HBO2 HD (Must have HBO HD) 779

That's great news - I wasn't keeping up as to what was in the next batch of channels. Now hopefully it won't take them 5 months to roll it out to the Valley like last time.

I think everyone is supposed to have the original batch of new HD channels by 5/22. Supposedly they will start rolling out the 2nd batch (those I listed a couple posts back) in June.

I got the first batch during the last week of November in Scottsdale and got Comedy Central HD about two weeks ago. I just noticed the large new batch (with FxHD, Fox News HD, Disney HD, etc.) on my guide yesterday, but I don't get the channels yet.

Does anybody receive signal on those yet?

KPPX (ion) on 717 is live, but all of the other channels that just appeared in the guide this week aren't live yet. But the fact that they appeared in the guide would suggest that they are almost ready to roll out.

Thanks, JayBird. That's what I get too. I also turned off the tuning adapter to see if ION is SDV and it is not.

The new channels will be great! There won't be many left that I watch that won't have an HD channel. :-)

I haven't bothered to pick up a tuning adapter yet. Other than DIY (133), I didn't care about any of the channels that went to SDV, so I figured I'd wait until something significant went to SDV (like new HD channels) before getting one. Also, at least when they first came out, it sounded like there were "issues" with the TAs, so I rather keep my TiVo working happily than introduce something that has a negative impact on stability until the TAs have been out a while and the bugs have been resolved (it doesn't go over well with my wife when the TiVo fails to properly record one of her shows).

I see bunch of folks in the East Valley got the first round HD channels (CNN, Bravo, SciFi, etc) yesterday... but still no love here on the Tempe/Chandler border (Ray and Kyrene), are we the only part of the Valley that doesn't have these yet (or is it just me...ha)?

UPDATE: Guess I just needed to complain about it again, the first batch (+ Comedy Central) showed up this afternoon (Sat 5/23) - powered down the TiVo in the morning, so not sure if that had anything to do w/ it or if it was just a coincidence. Now to see how long it will take for the 2nd round to get here!

Like several of you, I got my HD channels yesterday in southeast Phoenix near Tempe border. It was just by chance that I noticed SciFi, HDTV, Spike, etc. were enabled. I've been waiting for this since October. I wonder if Cox will publicize it since it affects ALL users, not just Tivos.

I have also gotten the channel upload, but do not have any of them available. NW Valley (I-17 and Pinnacle Peak). I just want SpeedHD.

BTW, has anyone else's tuning adapter just ceased to operate after 30 days of authorization with the Cox SDV network? I had to reboot mine, and it reminded me of the Cox Cable Card nightmare of last year.

I've had to reboot tuning adapter a couple of times because it was locked up; it didn't appear to be an authorization problem.

Every now and then I notice that the CableCard options menu is on screen in the morning. I just click OK and move on. That's it. Otherwise working perfectly for several months. I think the appearance of the menu may have more to do with the Tivo rebooting overnight and not really a TA issue.

So, no problems here.

Here in NE Mesa, we're now receiveing a high number of the channels in HD. Too many to list. Just a year late from when we were told we would receive them. NFL and MLB are there too. However one of the two tuning adapters we have is problematic. I'm going to take it back and switch it out.
