We installed a HD Tivo Saturday. All of our programs seem to be coming in 480i, even HBO HD. Is this something Tivo will work out? Also, we have bars on both sides of the screen and can't seem to eliminate them.

Are you using cable or antenna?

If cable, are you subscribed to the HD package from your company?

Do you have cablecards installed?

If yes, are you tuning to the HD channels instead of the SD version of the same channel?

You wouldn't, by any chance, have the TiVo hooked up with the composite (single yellow) or S-Video cable ? I believe you'll need component or HDMI to get HD output.

If properly connected, tell us what the front panel says.

Front pantel says 480i on all chanels. we have the component cables, no yellow connected. Was useing comcast dvr until Fri. when they switched us over to Tivo. With the comcast we got 1080i on the HD chanels. We have the 11.0 version on tivo. They told us to wait a few days before we call them if there is any trouble, is this what they are talking about, that it takes 3 days before HD kicks in?

Check your video output settings (under Messages & Settings). What is it set to?

Open Settings -> Video -> Video Output. Stick your TiVo on fixed 1080i.

You need to go to the video settings and change it to native. By default it is set to 480.
