This is why trained chimpanzees shouldn't be writing for TV.

Certainly wasn't the best ep in the series, but I still enjoyed it. Dwight being a jerk to family was cracking me up.

I thought it was mediocre at best.
I liked Stanley's speech though.

It was high concept, but fell short. You have an office that is literally a happy family juxtaposed against Michael's office that polarizes over the most trivial things.

I thought it was great. I enjoyed both the storylines and we saw again Michael's ineptitude somehow paying off, yet his conscience got in the way.

I liked it a lot too. The Swank stuff reminded me of 'Twelve Angry Men'. :D

I thought it was the weakest Office ever. The entire story line about Hillary Swank just didn't work for me.

I thought ti was funny that the head of Prince Paper had a "World's Best Boss" mug on his desk, too.

Nothing will ever top the second episode for weak episodes. They could make an episode where they wade waist deep in crap the entire time yet never mention it and it wouldn't be weaker than episode 2.
I thought this was an average episode and enjoyed it very much.

I thought so at first, too, but I noticed it actually said "World's Best Dad".

Watching the intense debate, I had to wonder what the hell was going on in the other branches if this was the best performing branch. :D

Yeah I thought it was great too. Less rich in plot twists and quotes than usual, but a solid and funny episode. It's good to see Michael at work sometimes - his silliness with the Prince Paper owner was great. It always makes me wonder who the REAL Michael Scott is - is the "Michael Scarn" salesman persona we saw yesterday the act, or is his boss persona the real one?

I really thought Michael wasn't going to hand over the list.

This was mediocre but the best laugh out loud moment for me was when Michael and Dwight returned to the office, everyone hushed because they were in the middle of their debate, but Michael never noticed.
The "chase" through the parking lot, and back for the keys, was funny too.

Really all Michael had to do was run behind Pam's desk and put the list in the shredder. Guess he just didn't think of it.

Anyone else think it was odd that Jim was the one who wanted to get the discussion over and done with? He is usually the one to organize things like this :D

That was when he was a drone. He's the #2 guy now (and with a fiancee and a mortgage!). Maybe he's starting to feel some responsibility.

Are you talking about the second episode of the entire series? That episode was "Diversity Day" and is still one of the funniest and most memorable episodes of the entire series.
This episode wasn't great, but it was still pretty funny. Loved how Michael's "she's pretty hot" comment at the end clinched the debate. And Oscar's Power Point with all the lines across her face showing how she's not symmetrical was pretty good too.

funny, i enjoyed the episode as well, but moreso the Dwigt/Michael storyline. Swank was flat for me...no pun intended. :)
Other than Jim's prank and Dwight/Michael facing each other to practice their 'signal' making it look like a makeout session; this episode was meh..

Or, simply shred it up in his hands and throw it away. I mean really, what was the whole point of trying to get into his car with the list? Mediocre at best episode...but then that pretty much summarizes this season for me anyway.

Meh...really a pretty lame ep this week...the "she's hot" thing grew VERY tiresome after a minute or so.

Not a big fan of this episode. BJ has written some decent ones before (iirc) but this one didn't work for me.
It was sort of like an SNL skit -- there was a kernel of something funny and a chuckle or two (I appreciated Oscar's visual aid demonstrating Hilary's symmetrical features), but it went on too long and there wasn't enough funny to keep it going.

Didn't he get Kelly to "loan" him a bunch of money and then he took off on some travel adventure with some high school friends (not his high school, but a high school)?

And Oscar's Power Point with all the lines across her face showing how she's not symmetrical was pretty good too.I think they missed an opportunity there - should have had Dwight poke his head back out of Michael's office after Michael's comment and say something like "meh, doesn't do it for me." That would have put them right back into a tie.

I thought it was a good ep. I like when they show Michael is a good salesman and cares about people. Most of the time he screws it up with out much remorse. This time he still felt bad after handing over the list.
I liked the whole hot/not hot discussion. I have had a few of those kind of talks in the office and on late shifts.

Wow! You guys would be terrible comedy writers. :p Who would ever watch a "comedy" where everybody acted like regular office drones?

Now THAT's the way to think like a comedy writer!

I loved how Kevin first tried to say it was all about whether you would do her or not but then when Jim presented him with a scenario in which he couldn't deny that he *would* do her, he then decided that not everyone he would do is necessarily hot. :p

You could also argue that Michael didn't really want to destroy the list, he just wanted to be forced to use it. It would make it not his fault, so it would be a sort of win-win situation.

After the wife and I watched this, I turned to her and asked if she so much as even smiled throughout this episode. We were in agreement that neither of us found it remotely funny.

No mention of my favorite scene yet? When Michael and Dwight are "casing" Prince Paper, and they start "observing" things, and Michael, having exhausted his astute observations after one, says
Michael: And there's clouds. There's clouds in the sky. I think it's gonna rain. Bad for business.
Dwight: [looking at Michael like he's a moron] Well it would if they were altocumulus, not cirrostratus.
Michael: [frustrated] Why do you?-- ah ok.
Dwight: Get your clouds right.
Michael: Shut up.
My other favorite exchange, also between Dwight and Michael:
Dwight: Your heart is a wonderful thing, Michael, but it makes some terrible decisions.
Michael: That's true. That's true. It has gone down the path many, many times. Jan, Ryan...

I'm fully aware of that. I did it for the comedy factor, which is why I left off the fact that you quoted the movie and added the :D at the end. Sorry for the trouble!
