I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I am in a monumental fight with Time Warner in Cincinnati, Ohio regarding the installation of a multi-stream cable card in my Tivo. I have been having pairing issues for months and they claim that an M-card simply does not exist. I am looking for someone in the area that has one installed to be willing to contact me and let me share their information so I can get this taken care of once and for all. I have spent nearly 4 hours on the phone and have waited for 3 tech appointments with no resolution. I am reaching out to someone in the community to give me a hand. I am desperate in Cincinnati. Please help!

I'm not sure if they meant Mcards don't exist at all, or if they don't have any in stock.

You can assure them that Mcards do exist, and even exist in Cincinnati. A quick search found:

M-card or Multi-stream definitely exist. If the moderator doesn't remove this link from Cablelabs, this is a primer on Cablecards from the people who designed Cablecards. it covers the different types of cards and the history of Cablecards. It does cover quite a bit of information on Multi-Stream cards.the more you know about the equipment you use, the better you are prepared when someone give you false informaion

I've had an "M" card for about 8 months now. I live just north of Cincy in Butler County. Had a tech come out, after I specifically asked for an M card. He brought out 2 just in case 1 didn't work. All went well, and after a call, everything was working. Don't let them tell you that they don't have them.

Diz,

I live in Dayton. When I called to order, the rep. told me yes they all have M-cards on their trucks. When the tech guy called to tell me he was on the way, I asked him. He told me that M-cards were special order that took "ummm.. several weeks" to get. He then said that he thought there was one in the "warehouse" that he could get if a supervisor would allow him to get it. He did, and I got my card. The installation was brutal, however ..... that is a story for another day.

Long story short (too late) ... they are available in Dayton, so you should be able to get one.

I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone with these guys yesterday. Long story short, I was told that S-cards were the only things that were ever available to Time Warner customers in the Cincinnati market. I know from searching the forum that there are people who have M-Cards installed (in fact on the Time Warner Cincinnati web-site, the only pictures they have of cable cards are of m-cards), but without a name or information to "look into it", I am out of luck right now. I am hoping someone who has this installed and is in the Time Warner Cincinnati market will share their name and information with me so I can use it as fodder against these guys. I wish they were only telling me that they were not in the warehouse, but they tell me such a thing never existed. Any additional help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Interesting, I have tried getting an M-card from Dayton office and they say they only have S-cards. I have them coming out Sunday to install S-cards in my new HDTIVO. I have requested they put on the ticket to bring 2 M-cards. That way if they have them I can switch out my other HDTIVO from 2 S-cards to 1 M-card. Save some$$.:D

Diz,
Send me a PM with what info you need. I live in Anderson Township & I've had a multistream card installed in my TiVoHD for almost a year now.

Does not surprise me that they don't seem to know what one is. I literally had to have a service technician come out before I got to speak with someone who knew what I was talking about when I wanted to know which channels moved to SDV last fall.

Hi Guys, I live in Anderson Township, close to Cincinnati. Does someone know if TW has TA available?

I spoke with someone in cincy tech support yesterday. Yes, someone who actually had knowledge. I was told they have a "Large shiptment coming" They are looking at end of February to mid March deployment. He seems to feel they need the time for the test markets to work out issues. Also they actually have to install equiptment to handle the TA's. Not to much longer:)

If you are still having trouble PM me as well for info. I have had an M-card since just after Christmas. TWC has farmed out CC tech support so their standard service knows little about the process. The installers have to call a "special seceret" number during the install to get them to work. I learned this the hard way because my appt was scheduled before the seceret number was open for business. He used local support who can only pair and "send a hit", that did not work and they could not trouble shoot. After installing a new line from the box and into the house and finally giving up after several hours, a 2nd installer (at a later date) with more experiece called the correct tech service and had it up and running in 15 minutes. (The first guy had installed an m-card as the 2nd card in a 2 s-card install. That is how I got the m-card).
