I have an analogue Tivo which still works!! I was wondering if it is possible to convert it to a digital recorder and how I go about adding a network card/upgrading the hard drive etc. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can easily add a Freeview (or Sky, or Freesat) stb to a TiVo and record digital channels that way. You can get a list of supported stb's at http://www.tivoportal.co.uk/ or browse this forum to see what others have used. Then re-run the guided setup and choose Freeview (or whatever), specifying the stb you are using.

If you want to upgrade the disk and add a network card the easiest route is probably buy them together pre-configured. Check out http://www.tivoheaven.co.uk/ or http://www.tivocentral.co.uk/ for ideas. If you want to do it all yourself you can source the bits seperately and follow the guides on this forum but IMHO it's worth spending a few extra quid and getting an off the shelf solution.

Thanks for the replies. I know I can connect a stb because that is how I used to use it to record. However, I found that invariably it went wrong and either didnt turn to box on or the box crashed etc. I was hoping there was a way of adding a digital tuner to the box. Shame Tivo stopped making their product as it was way ahead of the present day ones!

To get a TiVo with internal digital tuner:
Move to any of the following countries : USA,Canada,Australia,Taiwan, and maybe Japan or China later :)

TiVo still is way ahead in many ways compared to the UK DVRs!

With the Sky monopoly of pay tv in the uk, I can't see TiVo coming back, maybe we will get Nero Liquid TV with TiVo.

Sky have a nice 10 year old epg with a bolt on recording function and a search that only allows you to enter the first letter of a title.

...and invariably the programme still isn't listed.
