View Full Version : Slightly less than Mode 0?

I've got Mode 0 working, and (as far as I can see) am only getting 'blips' on BBC1 in the bottom right corner of my screen - and only on widescreen images.

What are the valid, or stepped, values for Mode 0, Mode 1 etc?

My theory being that if Mode 0 flashes due to the chip not being able to handle the processing/playback (rewind to where a flash was, and play, no flash...) then we should be able to set a value somewhere a bit lower than Mode 0, but still equal to or above 576i (50Hz) style quality?

Apologies if this has been discussed before...

The modes (eg. Mode 0, Mode 4 etc.) are independent of bitrates.

Many peopel have experimented with bitrates in Mode 0 and some claim to have found values that minimize white flashes on their TiVos so you may well be able to do the same. Changing the bitrate doesn't change the mode though.

Given that I've just run the scripts, what (exactly) would I need to change?

The bitrates are accessible in http://yourtivoipaddress/resources then choose bitrates
You are looking at altering
DBSBestVBRBitrate
DBSBestMAXBitrate
or
CATVBestVBRBitrate
CATVBestMAXBitrate
Depending on your source

I would search here for details about which does what as IIRC they aren't quite as self explanitory as they appear and several people have spent a fair amount of time experimenting
