Is it possible to stream content from my Series 3 to another computer (OS X Mac) on my local network?

I have seen solutions for downloading--I own Roxio Popcorn and have played around with iTivo--but the high def download takes forever over my wireless network and, plus, I have no intention of putting the files on my iPhone or archiving them... iTivo has the "subscribe" feature, which is close, but then you're limited to watching a subset of your content and, again, there is the network speed issue.

I guess what I really want (ideally) is a free, local network, slingbox-type solution that will stream content from my tivo to another room in the house. I tried searching the boards for the answer, but whenever I use the term "streaming" I get results about [Netflix -> Tivo] or [PC -> Tivo] rather than [Tivo -> Other device]... Thanks in advance.

Sorry, TiVo does not stream its recorded content at all, it only copies.

To watch elsewhere in real time, you need to run A/V to the other set, or actually get a Slingbox.

It's not theoretically impossible... there could be an app that grabbed a video from the internal web server in the usual way, passed it through tivodecode as it downloaded, and either displayed or re-streamed the decrypted data as it went.

Nothing does this now, AFAIK.

Even if this app did exist, it would only work for shows that have finished recording and not live TV. The TiVo will not transfer shows that haven't finished recording.

Right now I can start a download and begin playing it instantly, while the file is being downloaded.

Wouldn't a SlingBox accomplish what you want?
