I have a THD. I find that programs uploaded and editied with Video ReDo TV Suite and then downloaded back to the THD play with frequent video pixelation. I'm using TiVo Desktop. Might the Plus version cut down or eliminate the pixelation.
The edited mpegs play fine on my PC and DVDs burned from the mpegs play fine on the TV.
The TiVo blurb for the Plus says "Improved video and photo quality for TiVo HD and TiVo Series3™ DVRs".
Who knows for sure. I have + and I love it for being able to bulk move folders of programs back to the TiVo, though there are other ways to do that (like PyTiVo, etc.). But I like the simplicity of using TD+.
Regarding VRTS, before pushing your files back to the TiVo, try running the "Quickstream Fix" option on your files. Sometimes that can help a lot. When I rip my BSG episodes (DVD player on the fritz), without Quickstream Fix, the A/V is sometimes off and other little blips sometimes occur. But after running QSF on the episodes, things work just fine.

Thanks. I'll try Quickstream Fix.
I'll also upgrade to Desktop Plus.

The TiVo blurb for the Plus says "Improved video and photo quality for TiVo HD and TiVo Series3™ DVRs".Do you have a link for that? The claim makes no sense to me.
Oh, wait -- maybe they're talking about the formats it will convert to? But that still wouldn't explain the "photo" thing. Hmm.

Photos 2, does high definition, but I don't think that is a Plus thing.

Photos 2 is included in Basic.

Exactly, it's not a Plus thing. So what could that claim mean? Or is it even actually cited as a Plus benefit? That's why I want to see the link, to see if it makes more sense in context. (I don't see that text at tivo.com/desktop, nor can I find it with Google.)

(I don't see that text at tivo.com/desktop, nor can I find it with Google.)It's here:

Google worked for me - I used the term "Improved video and photo quality for TiVo HD and TiVo" in quotes, since I didn't know how the 'TM' would index. The other page that returned was this thread...
