confused about TiVo suggestion recording conflicts

While adding upcoming shows to record from the guide, I've run into the situation where a TiVo suggested-movie that is currently recording causes a conflict.

If for example a TiVo suggestion is recording from 8pm to 10pm and at 8:45pm I try to schedule recordings on both tuners from 9pm to 10pm, shouldn't TiVo allow me to and simply cancel recording of the suggestion?

I thought that was the behavior in the past. But now what happens is that when I try to add the second program on the second tuner, TiVo shows a conflict and--this is the really annoying part--offers the option of canceling the show I just scheduled to record on the first tuner. In other words, it doesn't give me the option of canceling the recording of the movie I never told it to record in the first place.

So the only way to do this is to realize that TiVo is recording a suggestion, go to suggestions, find the offending program and cancel recording. Is this the way it has always been?

You could also simply go to live tv and change the channel on the tuner recording the suggestion to free up the tuner for another recording.

AFAIK, it's always been this way.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe TiVo is recording more suggestions recently, because I never noticed this before.

I personally would prefer if TiVo understood that if I'm trying to schedule recordings, they should automatically take precedence over a suggestion that is being recorded, and that recording should be cancelled and trashed.
