Hello. I have a Series 2 40GB with a TiVo Wireless G USB Network Adapter attached. I had to turn off my password protection on my wireless router in order to get the TiVo to talk with the network. I have a Belkin Wireless G router.
Can anyone tell me why the TiVo cannot communicate with my router when a password is enabled? My network is wide open now until I can get the TiVo and Belkin router to play nice together.
Thanks.

FYI, most Routers use HEXBIN passwords 1-0 and A-F (uppercase), 10 characters....
what I learned, TiVo lets you enter lower case and that isn't the same thing. Try entering your password all in UPPERCASE ;) worked for me

Are you using WEP or WPA?
With WEP, there are various hashing algorithms used by different manufacturers to convert a human identifiable password into the actual encryption key. Using a hex (or hexadecimal key) instead will alleviate this issue.
With WPA, things are much more standard with regard to the hashing of the passwords. I have seen recommendations to use a password of exactly 13 length for maximum compatibility

The Tivos does not do WPA until software V9.1.
The correct information is:
TiVo software version 8.1 or later is required for WPA.
