Toshiba SD-H400 Funky?

My SD-H400 is acting kinda funky. When it's in standby and the room is dark, I can see lights flashing behind the DVD, Record and and DVR leds. They are dim but every few seconds they can get bright. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I have restarted a thousand times but it just seems to do it when it wants. I'm not sure if it is supposed to do it or not. The hard drive is loud also. It seems to buzz alot. I think it's when it's indexing.

Anybody have one of these? Is it normal? It works fine and does what it is supposed to do. Maybe it's haunted.
