FiOS + Sony Series 2 Single Tuner

I currently have 2 Sony S2ST and DishNetwork. I would like to switch from Dish to FiOS. I've been searching and reading posts in these forums and not being a techy, I'm still confused as to whether I will be able to make the switch. I am using IR blasters with DishNetwork, is that all I will need to go with FiOS? Do I need these cablecards? I don't even know if my TiVOs have card slots. Also, anyone who has made the switch to FiOS, did the Verizon installer also set up your TiVOs or did you have to handle that yourself?
