I picked up an old Series 2 DVR-810 to toss in the workout room, but I'm having a bit of an issue with it..

I re-ran GS to setup the input options, but I can't seem to get it talking to the network

I'm using a Linksys wired adapter from one of my OTHER series 2's that works fine. Just for giggles I tried a different model I had around, but no soap.

I KnOW it's connecting to the network, because I can see it pulling an IP address from my DHCP server. And the link light is on, as well as the traffic light flashing.

I try putting in the ,#401 for a dialing prefix but it just sets there for a while, and then comes back with an error.

Is there something special needed on this thing or am I remembering wrong about the dial prefix ?

I don't have a landline, so I can't go dial-up, and all the other TiVo's are networked now.

Thoughts ? ???

What software version are you using? Do you know? If you're still with the original 5.x software version, there's a limited number of adapters that work.

I have no idea.

I spoze I should've checked B4 I ran a GS, but it's been so long since I've had any problems like this, I guess I forgot .

As far as the adapter goes, I've been using the same one(s) for YEARS since my very first Series 2 box. Also it seems the fact that it is pulling an IP address confirms it's talking, no ?

The Pioneer 810H goes back at least three years -- I own one that I purchased back when they were first released. One wired adapter I know worked at that time is the Linksys USB100M

I guess that just because it's getting an IP doesn't mean it's communicating fully

There were some cases where the ,#401 wouldn't always work either and the only solution was to use a phone line.
