I'm having difficulty connecting the following components so that it's user friendly for my wife. she should be able to use all the components with ease. I would appreciate a color diagram so that I can setup everything, where can I find a diagram that covers all these components? I'd like to eventually add a Harmony One remote to the mix, or if someone has another remote to suggest it would be appreciated. Thanks

1) Televison = Vizio VO47L FHDTV30A
2) ComCast HD Box = Motorola HDMI DCH3200
3) TiVo Box = TiVo Series 2 DT Digital Recorder (not the HD version)
4) CD/DVD Player = Sony DVP NS 57P
5) AV Receiver = Yamaha AV Receiver HTR5730

There is no "HD version" of the series 2, dual tuner or otherwise.

No component-connection diagram is going to make things easier for your wife. However things are set up, operation of each unit will be the same.

Tell us if you want to be able to record off the cable box or if you just want that fed into the TV so you can watch it while the TiVo records non-box channels thru its own tuner. (Does your cable system still have any analog channels?)

How many sets of audio/video inputs does your TV have?

Oh...

Does the TV have audio OUTPUTS that can feed a line level signal into the receiver?

What exactly do you want available to the receiver? (DVD? Cable? TiVo playback)

The best solution is probably a Harmony remote. It can be programmed with a single button for "watch movie" or "watch TV" which will automatically configure your components properly.

To Gastrof ... second option (watch HD TV live while TiVo records non-HD simultaneously, the TiVo box is a Dual Tuner). Yes there are still analog channels on ComCast. Here is the breakdown of audio/video jacks on the TV ... HDMI Section => HDMI 1 & 2 Audio L/R (no Video) Component 1 Section => Audio L/R (plus Y, Pb/Cb & Pr/Cr) (no Video) AV1 / S-Video Section => Audio L/R and Video (plus S-Video) Audio Out Section => Audio L/R (Analog) (plus Optical). I would like DVD and TiVo available for playing on the reveiver. Thanks

To Ciper ... Thanks I was leaning towards the Harmony One, have heard some good reviews about it.

Not true. The HR10-250 is a series 2 HD Tivo.

+1 to what ciper suggested. Get a Harmony remote that has the activities displayed so all she has to do is press a single button that automatically changes inputs and sets up the right components for her. After that, the remote will function like it would for any component for changing channels, volume, mute, etc. Don't bother trying to explain to her any type of setup where she has to press more than one button, especially if it involves touching anything other than the remote.
