I was just perusing Ebay for S1 units with lifetime.

I see such a huge variance in pricing. There were a couple for $29.99 that got 0 bids. One had all accessories, including a new remote, and everything worked. Good feedback on the seller.

In contrast, another sold for $80, and the seller had disclosed that the modem wasn't working consistently. Also, it didn't include original accessories.

These two examples were from similar time periods. It's just very odd to me.

I would say the value of an S1 w/ lifetime is related to 1) its usability and 2) the likelyhood of a future offer being made to transfer lifetimes to a new unit at a discount.

Item 1 is pretty clear.

Item 2 is purely speculative and could result in some of the variation in pricing.

Your assuming that E-bay is a constant market (like stocks) and very efficient, its not as the price that is paid on two listings of the same item may be much different, depends on who looking (and the seller rating) and how careful the looker is.
Unless you know what you are doing once a bid is made on item A you can't than cancel that bid (to many times) if an item B comes up for sale. I once wanted an item and made 10 low ball bids one at a time before i got the item at the price i wanted, some people had paid more the 3 times for the same item before i got one.
