As of about 6pm today my TivoHD only gives me the Acquiring Channel Information screen when trying to view any cable channels. No rhyme or reason why, no updates or reboots or power surges. It's been working fine for over a year now.

About to call the cable company now, but has this ever happened to anyone?

It's an expensive piece of electronics. It doesn't need a rhyme or reason. ;)

The first thing I'd try is unplugging the unit, waiting a minute or two and then plugging it back in and letting it power up. A simple menu reboot won't do it.

Sometimes the cablecards 'lose' signal and only physically pulling the plug will reset them.

Cable cards can break pairing from their host device (the TiVo) at random. All this requires is a simple call to your cable provider with the following info. THe Host ID, The Data Number, and the card number. These Items can be found by inserting the cable card (In or out of Guided Setup) and visting the Conditonal access screen in the cable card diagnostic settings in Settings. Tivo.com/support has some great info as well.

Been on the phone twice with Charter. They are claiming that there have been several dead cable cards in my general area tonight, which is unusual. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what they are saying.

Update. Started working late last night, so I guess the problem was on Charter's end.
