I have Comcast cable and a cable box, Motorola DCT700/US and a series 2 Tivo, model # TCD540080.

Is there anyway to set-up TiVo so I can watch one program while it records another?

I currenlty have the cable split, one into the cable box then TV and the other directly to TiVo. I can watch one program while TiVo records another, but it won't record the higher channels I get with the box.

Put one cable to the cable box and then to the TiVo, and the other one directly to the TV. You'll be able to record a cable box cahnnel and watch any channel that doesn't require the box while you record another channel.

Or you could buy my slightly used S2DT... :)

You're basically stuck, and it will get worse as Comcast migrates to more digital and less analog broadcasts.

Your best, although not cheapest, solution is to upgrade to a TiVo HD or Series 3.
