Hi Everyone,

I am new to the TiVo community having just received a TiVo HD for Christmas.
I just found out that the newest version of Roxio Toast coverts video files to put them on your TiVo.
I've been reading that there are other ways to do it but I thought I would share it.
Maybe it's a little easier? Source is Gizmodo.

The new Tivo Desktop feature in Toast 10 is like Tivo2Go in reverse. You pull whatever video files you
have on your computer (and want to watch on your TV), and use Toast 10 to encode and send them to
your Tivo for viewing. Various open source versions of this feature have been out for awhile, but they tend to be buggy.

I am more interested in the streaming from my computer rather than actually converting. Does this mean that it will allow me to stream Mpeg 4 movies from my computer?

Also, I am interested to learn more on the tv show streaming from my computer to my ipod touch over the internet. Sounds like a slingbox type deal. Any thoughts?

You have to convert MPG-4 to Mpg-2 to work on oldermodels TIVO(s) and have the TIVO Server installed on your computer.

Transfer rate seems slow.

Does 9 do HD versions as 10 advertises? How well does it work if so? Can it maintain the 5.1 surround sound?

Their blurb (http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/watch.html):

"Send standard and HD video from your Mac to your TiVo® DVR for viewing on television. Publish folders full of video on your Mac and stream them on-the-fly to your DVR without lengthy video conversions."
