Does anyone know if there are any manufactures that have produced or are going to produce a HD TIVO with a built in DVD burner that will also work with DirecTV?
FYI: I love my Humax Series 2 DRT 800 units but like them more if they were HD...

None exist at this time. None are announced.
DVD is limited in capacity, and DVD players don't support HD. Any HD TiVo would have to encode HD content on the hard drive into MPEG-2 SD on the fly, to create compatible DVD disks. At the price such a product would require, I don't think there would be much demand.
In case you haven't noticed, no DVD recorders exist on the U.S. market with the ability to record or output actual HD. This is to keep cost down, because it seems that U.S. consumers no longer have any interest in paying $300 to $500 for a DVD recorder.
Eventually, when the economics make sense, we may see Blu-ray recorders (for full HD recording) with Firewire. When that makes happens, we could see a Firewire output or a USB Firewire adapter on a future TivoHD.

Why does my Humax DRT800 even have component outputs if it can't transmit HD?

For the best possible looking SD picture from a DVD.

- Especially if that Humax up-converts. But even if it doesn't, component input/output is the next best thing to HDMI (maybe even BETTER if you're trying to avoid copy protection hassles).
