I had MRV and TTG working on an original Tivo Series 3 in my living room and a Tivo Series 2 in my bedroom. The series 2 broke, so I bought a used Tivo Series 3 on ebay and added lifetime to it.

I have 2 questions:

1. The new Series 3 works perfect, but seems to have a different mediakey than my original series 3, and therefore i cannot use Tivo Desktop in conjunction with both. When trying to access the new tivo i get Media Access Key does not match (obviously!). How do I get the new tivo to reflect the Tivo Media Access Key attached to my account, which i can find at Tivo.com

2. I can't seem to use MRV between the 2 tivos even though it has been enabled and updated. On the new tivo, I can see my original series 3 thats in the living room, but it says that there is no recordings. When I go to the tivo in the living room, it shows "DVR", not what i actually call it "Bedroom Series 3". DVR has no recordings.

Any ideas on these 2?

Until they both use the same MAK, this will not work. Are they both registered to your tivo account?

I see them both on my tivo.com account status page and I was told by the CSR that they both were. I bet this is an account problem, Ill have to call them tomorrow to try and fix it.

My bigger issue is question #2, anyone have any ideas? Again both are "a,a,a" and enabled at tivo.com

That is the answer to number 2. Until they have the same MAK, you cannot MRV between them.

Will Tivo change the MAK for me? I'm assuming the MAK on the new unit was not changed from the sellers account.

Well, if they are both on your account, if you force service connections and restart them, does that help?

What is the account status of the new TiVo (system info screen) ?

It says 5:Product LIfetime Service

It says 5:Product LIfetime Service

You bought the lifetime on your own account, you didn't buy it with someone else's lifetime, right?

Which TiVo has the correct MAK (get your MAK from your account on TiVo's web site.)

Did a couple more service connections, and a reboot of both TiVos help?

I just setup a new TiVoHD and I had to force about 6 service connections before it finally got the new account info and MAK.

I had the same problem when I bought a used tivoHD. I had to force the connection to update the MAK, and frankly if that tivoHD experiences a hiccup, it will revert to the old MAK. It seems as if the default for tivos is to remember the first MAK it is imprinted with if there is a problem.

Had the same problem when I substituted an old TiVo from another house while my current one was being repaired.

Fixed the "No recordings" problem by calling TiVo, having them make sure that both TiVos were on my same account, rebooting all TiVos, rebooting my router, and then waiting the up to 48 hours they told me I needed to be patient.

Then all the problems were healed. I've purchased two Series 3 TiVos with Lifetime Subscriptions from others, and have been able to get them to work fine. I have a combination of Series 2 and Series 3 TiVos, and while the substitute one could see all the others, it couldn't see any programs.

Using MRV transfer, I had just transferred two SD shows from my THD to my Series 2. Immediately I went back to the menu to get a third show. The NPL on the THD briefly showed the recordings-then they suddenly vanished and the "DVR has no recordings" error showed up. I have reconnected both Tivos to the service and "plug rebooted" both of them several times--including pulling the ethernet cable on the THD. I still get the same error trying to access the THD from the S2. Recordings show for a couple of seconds, then disappear with the above error.
If I go to the THD and access the S2 from there all works well.
The workaround is a real PITA (uploading to PC via TivoDesktop and transferring from there.)

I did several searches but have not come up with an answer for this as yet.

Any help?
