Has anyone else had a problem where you initiate a transfer from one tivo to another, the blue light comes on, but the show never shows up in the NPL (and never finishes...).

I suppose I'll have to yank the plug on the Tivo to correct this, but I was wondering if this is a common problem?

Thanks.

That doesn't happen much. Power cycling has a good chance of fixing the problem. Any details on the type of attempted content transfer or your network?

I used to run into that with my Series 2 box, since it would sporadically lose its network connection using the Tivo wireless adapter. Wired connections were never problematic.

To see if it's a network problem, force a connection to the mothership and see if it successfully completes.

Definitely not a network problem. Not using wireless anywhere, and I can still browse other devices on the network from the tivo that is having the issue.

In this particular case, it was a DVD rip (DVDFab, generic vob rip, renamed to mpg) which was transfered onto Tivo #1 via pyTivo. All was well and good, we were halfway through the movie, and wanted to continue watching it from the bedroom (Tivo #2). From Tivo #2, we did a "Transfer from the Paused position"...It told us that it would start after the current transfers finished (Which was odd, since there were no current transfers), then the blue light came on, and nothing else happened.

It's not in the NPL. I suppose I'll check the ToDo list before I reboot it just to see if it's there.

not common but has happened before. i had 4 CSI:NY episodes that would not transfer from my S3 to a THD. It would start with the blue light coming on but they would not finish, tried multiple times, no go. Got another S3 added now and the same programs transfer just fine from the first S3 to the new S3.

another time i tried to transfer from the first S3 to the new S3 and blue light came on and went off quickly it gave the error in the to do list history as a corrupted file or something like that. i tried the same transfer like an hour later and it went through just fine.

Okay, here's the update.

It's in the ToDo list. I canceled it. Blue light stays on. I rescheduled it to transfer. No change. It just goes to the top of the ToDo list.

I rebooted the Tivo (using the menus). When it came back on the blue light was lit. I assumed that it was because it had finally started the transfer since I had rebooted with it at the top of the ToDo list. However, it was in the same state. Not transfering anything.

I deleted the item from the ToDo list, and pulled the plug out of the back of the Tivo...It's rebooting now.

Edit:
This time it came up and the blue light wasn't on. I asked it to transfer again and it told me (again) that it would transfer after the currently scheduled transfers finished. The blue light came on, and I am back where I started...completely hosed.

I yanked the plug again to at least get back a working Tivo that can (hopefully!) transfer other shows... My next attempt will be to reboot the Tivo that this is transfering *from*. Although I doubt that will affect anything. However, that Tivo is being used for now so this test will have to wait...

I find I have to reboot both TiVos when MRV gets messed up,

Yes, it seems like it was related to the *source* Tivo, not the destination.

I was able to transfer other videos from the server to the destination and it was fine...and time I tried to transfer from the one that originally caused the problem put me back in the same situation.
