I have a Sony Series 1 that is connected to the tv in my bedroom. The modem on the Series 1 died a few years ago and I bought a turbonet card and installed it and used a wired connection to download service information.

I eventually shifted to a wireless set up, and used a Linksys WET54g wireless bridge to connect wirelessly to my router. That set up worked well for about three years, and the router died. I replaced the old router with an "N" router, again from Linksys.

Linksys told me today that WET54g is not compatible with the new router.

I have a PowerPC Mac Mini in the same room as the Series 1 tivo. The MacMini is on my wireless network.

Is there a way I can share the internet connection in the MacMini with the tivo to download the programming data?

Or is there another bridge someone can recommend that would replace the WET54g? The Linksys technical person didn't have that information.

Thanks!

I do not have enough details, i.e. your new Linksys router N model nor do I run Mac. I also do not have the series 1 Tivo.

But, I think you can share your broadband Mini Mac with the Tivo if this has an ethernet connection. My TivoHD does have a built-in RJ-45 port.

The reason I want to know about your new Linksys router is if it is DD-WRT compatible. I am reasonably sure that it is backward compatible to the G equipment. i.e WET54G. Can this be just a config problem?

I use a repeater bridge G with a draft N router with no problem. Is your WET54G a client bridge? I suspect it is, so it can only be used on only one appliance.

You can replace your draft N router with Linksys wrt54GL which will be 100% compatible with your WET54G.

I run all my draft N and G routers , repeater bridge and client bridge on dd-wrt firmware. They are differnt hardware brands but the dd-wrt makes them transparent to the use i.e like different computers using windows os.

I hope I don't confuse you any more than you already are.
