Cox HD New Orleans and TIVO

Please help... We currently have a series 2 Tivo and recently bought a HD television. The series 2 does not seem to support the HD (Cox New Orleans). We love our Tivo (we have 2), but reading many posts on the internet it seems that the series 3 will not work well with Cox HD. We'd rather stick with Tivo (even if we have to buy another unit), but I want to be able to use a DVR and not sacrifice picture quality, the number of stations that we are able to record, or the home network (Tivo to go/multi room viewing). Any advice would be appreciated...

I dont know if this will help you at all, but..

I live in orange county, california and have Cox cable out here. I have 2 Tivos (series 2) and have been using the cox hd dvr for my home theater. I recently decided to switch the cox hd dvr to a tivohd because I wanted the room to room transfer, amazon downloadability, and netflix.

I have the TivoHD running audio and video to my Pioneer Elite receiver VSX-72TXV via 1 HDMI cable and I have 1 HDMI cable going from receiver to my Pioneer Elite flat screen. 2 cables, and unbelievable sound and picture. I cant stop watching HD channels now, even though Ive had HD for 2 years.

The installation was a bit painful - the first guy came over and this was his first TIVOHD install with cablecards. He got everything running except no HBO channels. So, a second guy came out, fixed it and its been working great for the past week.

I still miss the cox video on demand a bit, because I did use that quite often. I am hoping the netflix and amazon, etc will make up for the loss of cox video on demand.. we'll see.

So, in summary, I suggest if you are doing this: (1) buy the tivo HD (2) make sure your receiver can use HDMI cables - if not, buy one (3) use HDMI cables only! (buy online - much much much cheaper than at BestBuy, etc. (4) enjoy! (5) get netflix if you dont already have it..
