Hi everyone! A few days ago I changed my cable outlet from 3 outputs to 4. After the initial setup, all channels came in and everything went fine. Now I came home today to watch the Rose Bowl on ABC, and found out that I'm not getting any of my Locals in HD anymore. All of my others (Espn, Food, TNT, etc.) are coming in fine. My tivoHD in the living room is saying searching for signal input or a blank screen. I'm just puzzled because it worked fin for a few days with no issues and now even my QAM tuner is not picking up the channels either. I called Comcast and they were no help (as expected) and said they didn't see anything that we weren't missing any channels. Could my new setup be the cause of this problem??
Any suggestions?
Let me know if I left out any details.
Thanks.
Hopefully I can get this figured out before the Sugar Bowl.

Do you have cablecards installed? If not, it's possible they moved the channel assignment. Do you have another QAM tuner in the house to verify it with? Also, if you still have the old splitter, it might be worthwhile to stick it back in place to see if it's a signal strength issue.

Yes, cable cards are installed. The other qam tuners are doing the same thing. I have checked the signal meter on the Tivo. The channels are really varying from one to the next so I don't know. I'm going to try the old splitter as well.

So you changed your splitter? What's the frequency range on the old and new splitters?

Both splitters are 5-1000. The original splitter was 3 way and now I have a four way. What should I do, because it looks like a signal issue.

What should I do? I set it up the old way, and everything worked fine. I need 4, possibly five outlets and my current signal setup allows 3. A few things: at the grounding block: it looks absolutely nasty. rusted, the whole nine yards. Also, when I disconnected the cable from the block, water seeped out of it constantly. I need help. Don't know what to do.
Thanks

As you're finding out, everytime you split a cable the signal to each connection is reduced. It sounds like you've reached the limits of your system. Ideally you should start at where the cable enters your house and replace as much as possible. If you can replace the physical cables running to each outlet, do that. Use RG6 Quad shielded wiring. If you can't replace the wiring, at the very least replace all of the F connectors (the fittings on the ends) with good high quality replacements that are crimped on. Replace the grounding block too.
If none of that works, your next step would be to get a high quality cable amplifier. Expect to pay at least $75 for a good quality powered amp.

You may also need to contact your cable provider, I had the same issue months back, where I received no HD channels, would always search for signal, my problem was in the line from the road to my house, it was an old RG6 line running to the house the cable company came out and replaced it with a RG60 line and no problems with HD, SD or internet, since then, and I have 6 tv hookups.
