Universal remote

Bought a RCA universal remote RCR812... "powers everthing" Yeah right! Any ideas for a remote code for Philips DSR 704 ? None opf the published ones work correctly.

Does it have a code for "TiVo"?

Did you try the codes with the tivo on? Don't expect there to be power command on the power key in the DVR device. If the tivo is in standby try GUIDE or MENU keys to awaken it.

Look under the Philips VCR or DVR codes.

Most of the series 2 DirecTivos used the same remote codes. Does it have a listing for any of the following?

Hughes GXCEBOT, HDVR2, SD-DVR40/80/120
Philips DSR-7000/704/708
RCA DVR39/40/80/120
Samsung SIR-S4040/4080/4120

Yes had tried the dvd/VCR Philips codes.

Not worried about on/off.. but the nav button really needs to work correctly and none of the codes has accomplished this...have had some strange variations though.

If the receiver is in standby mode, while testing the codes in the RCA remote, the majority of the keys in that device will have no effect on the receiver, only when its on. Get the drift?

Thanks...universal doesn't really mean it works all the time. Returned it and ordered a new peanut. :)
