Grrr. . . As a relatively serious pony player I really hate when the writers get basic facts about the horse racing biz wrong. That kind of wrecked this ep for me. That and it was a little more convoluted than most (or maybe I was distracted counting the mistakes they made). The addition of Mark Sheppard (remember "Badger" from Firefly?) as a new antagonist might add some depth to the show.

OTOH playing "name that track" is always fun, in this case it was Santa Anita.

I have to say, Parker is growing on me.

Isn't she the cutest widdle psychopath? Yes, she is!

Sorry I have to disagree here. She makes me cringe every time she is on screen. Get rid of her and replace with a different actress please....

Agree. Rob, I can't tell you how many times I've avoided posting in threads once I see you there simply because we are almost always in total agreement and you say precisely what I would have. Not this time - I find her character very annoying and in my opinion she's a very light-weight actress - which really becomes apparent when she's in a scene with Hutton.

How can you not like cute Parker pouting at the camera?

I think Parker is a little lightweight, but I think part of that is they don't always know what to do with her. She made nice comic relief with the crawl through the ducts and the confrontation with Kentucky Thunder in this episode. This is only the 3rd episode, so I'm willing to let everyone grow into their parts a little more.

I never watch TNT, so I had no idea this show even existed until I stumbled upon it for this week's episode. Coupling is, probably, my all-time favorite show, so I'll watch anything that anyone from that show is in (at least once).

I thought the shows was pretty good. Not fantastic or anything, but a fun watch. I haven't seen the pilot or the second episode - are they worth watching, or should I not bother? I think I'll add a season pass for now anyway, and give at least next week a shot.

The pilot and 2nd ep give you some backstory on the characters and how they got together, and are pretty good "con game shows" as well.

I am finding the show going downhill a little. The Pilot was clever, and fun. The follow-ups have not been as clever.

bring back hustle!

The riding of the horse to save the day was over the top. But i guess 2 points for pulling it off. Is it that ez to buy and sell horses? I guess i get caught up in the details.

Yeh, I'm in the 'get rid of this version of Parker' camp. The acting is really bad, but she takes it to new depths. Hopefully it can regain the magic the pilot hinted at and soon.

Riding the horse was the least egregious of the errors they made. You can buy and sell horses as easy as they made it seem, but most of the USA doesn't use the implanted chip to ID a horse, they still use lip tattoos. 14 Million is the record price paid for a single horse, and that was at auction (he was a flop on the track BTW), no one who had been in the horse biz for any amount of time would pay that kind of money for any horse no matter how good, especially in a private sale. The horse's birth date was said to be September, which would only be the case if the horse was foaled in the Southern hemisphere. They don't give a time frame, but it is unlikely that "Kentucky Thunder" would be doing training gallops and then shuffled off to a stud farm within the time frame the story seemed to cover.

BTW I like Parker, and am willing to give the writers and actors some time to "grow into" the characters. My season pass is still on.

They also said how "big" the horse was supposed to be. But in the scene with Parker dropping into the stall out of the duct (which is also fiction - doubt you'd see duct work above a stall in a stable)....her head was nearly as high as the horse's. That doesn't make for a "big" horse.
