I recently got an old Hughes HDVR2 unit from a friend. I'm trying to use one of my old peanut Directv Tivo remotes with the unit, but none of them work. The remotes work fine on my other DirecTivo unit (an RCA DVR40)...should they be able to work with the HDVR2 as well? I have tried resetting the unit, clearing the codes on the remote, and changing the batteries in the remote with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, all tivo peanuts will work with other tivo peanut controlled tivos. Meaning no sony's or toshiba H400's.
Did you try setting it to address zero?

No, I will try that tonight.
I do this thru the system information screen, correct?
Thanks.

It doesn't matter, any remote set to address zero will control any tivo no matter what address its set to.
so do the folllowing on the non-working remote:
1. press and hold Directv/tivo & Pause until the light remains on
2. press the zero key

I tried this, but unfortunately, it did not work. I spoke with a DirecTV rep who also believed this would fix the problem, but now he suspects there might be an issue with the unit's IR panel. If you or anyone else has additional suggestions, I would appreciate them. Thanks again.
