Way too many jokes in the beginning at the expense of a man that had just died. I get that it's a comedy and everything, but some things just aren't funny.
The rest of the episode was alrightish, but I did not appreciate how it began.

I didn't really see it that way. Since the dead jokes were about someone who only died on the show (ie, not in real life), I didn't see anything inappropriate about them. But this show has *never* been an arbiter of good taste. YMMV.
I still love this show, but it's almost become a parody of itself. We call out the jokes & lines before they happen. As he's proposing to Rose, we said "phone rings from the doctor". It's too easy.
But it's still funny. And I love the variety of food/dumb jokes they manage to have Jake do.
BTW, was that the first time we've seen Rose in a couple years? Is she supposed to be back, or was it a one-off?

I guess I mean, within the realm of the show itself, it wasn't cool to joke about Charlie's best friend dieing to Charlie. I mean, c'mon, comedy show or not, you don't talk about someone's friend like that.

Even if he was like a brother to him?

Especially not if he was "like" a brother to him.
Hehe. Yes, I got it.

I think the idea is Charlie lives the same life as his friend, so the same thing could be happening to him that's why the jokes.
And poor Duckie doesn't get anything, then finds out no house.

I just love this show. I laugh hysterically whenever I watch it. I just finished getting all 4 seasons on DVD.
Yeah Charlie proposing to Rose was too "Yeah right" but hey this is a comedy.
I wonder if Allan will bring up the will in another episode.

I thought the opening scene was great, and the jokes were spot on. We had real brothers pretending to be friends, fake brothers pretending to be real, Charlie's death by proxy, and a jealous sponge.

They're rude to the recently deceased so much, it's almost a running joke. This was no different.
And James Earl Jones voicing "Men" at the end instead of the usual choir was perfect. As was the sub-vocal story he told during Charlie's dream sequence. ;)

I started watching it in reruns. Its like junk food. Makes for good background TV while I peruse forums.

I thought it was a good episode. Loved how Alan was completely forgotten in all of Charlie's death bed repenting. I loved how Jake kept pointing out that he was getting the jokes that others were missing. I wish they'd have used Emilio more, though.

Emilio is almost as big as Leah Remini.

I used to like this show alot but its getting old and is not as funny.....they need to have alot more episodes about Alan. His character is way funnier than Charlie

I don't know if his character's funnier, but Cryer is a a better actor than Sheen.

I used to think Charlie looked more like Martin, but with a little age and weight on him now, Emilio is starting to look a lot more like Papa Sheen.

Yes, while Charlie still looks like a younger version of his dad, his brother is turning INTO his dad looks-wise. Put them side by side and they look more like brothers than the brothers do. IMHO.
P.S. I liked the use of Rose, it was just enough, not too much. Predictable ending, but what can you do?

Cryer is definitely a better actor, but his character is a whiny b!tch. I like Charlie much better.

The problem is for whatever reason, they writers and producers seem to be afraid of making any permanent changes to keep the show fresh (aside from Judith's marriage and pregnancy).

Pregnancy?
Has this happened on the show yet, or is it upcoming? It's the first I've heard of it.

I think it happened a few episodes ago when Alan hooked back up with Judith when Herb moved out.

Oh, right. Now I remember. It doesn't really need to be spoilerized since it has already aired.
