Perhaps Leslie Winkle could provide the ovum... :D
However, I think Kaley Cuoco broke character in that scene with Leonard in her apartment. But it was endearing.

I thought she did that during the gift exchange, too. I got the impression she was really cracking up at the lines and deliveries of Galecki and Parsons as if they went beyond what had been rehearsed previously -- she didn't flib her lines out of surprise but she couldn't keep a straight face. (Or maybe it was real rum she was drinking on the sofa.)
The last scene was the funniest thing I've seen on TV all year! And touching too, I almost shed a tear... :D

The TV critic in USA Today said that last scene should be Jim Parsons Emmy submission this year. Jim Parsons better get an Emmy nomination this year or the Emmy voters have no idea what they are doing.

Naw...I give credit to Jim Parson's pee pee dance when he was dancing from one foot to the other like he was going to lose it.
When Penny said for him to excuse the bit where Nimoy wiped his mouth, my husband and I both looked at each other and screamed, "DNA!!" about 2 seconds before Sheldon delivered his line.
Just priceless, a Saturnalia miracle!

I don't want to see them break character usually, but one of the things I'm liking more and more about this show is that the actors really do seem to be enjoying themselves.
Last season, I was room temperature on liking this show. This season, it's seemed to get really good.

Well, I guess Jim Parsons isn't getting an Emmy nomination this year then. :)
That's fault logic... "P -> Q" (read: if P, then Q) does not mean that "Q -> P". That is, the Emmy committee being dumb does not (necessarily) mean that he won't get an Emmy, even though I do agree with the fact that if he doesn't, then they are.
Although actually the original statement was "P or Q", which does not mean that if Q (which I think we all agree is true) then !P (not P). Or is not exclusive unless otherwise stated. So they can not know what they're doing and he can still get the Emmy.
I only feel comfortable with making logic observations because this is a BBT thread :)
I'll go back to my geek-cave now....

I guess I have to disagree-I never say Caylee (or whatever her name is, I'm too lazy to actually look it up. :o) break character, at least not in a major way. And I know a thing or two about it...my college degree was in theatre directing.

Maybe I don't know what breaking character really means but I think Kaley was really cracking up at some of the lines and deliveries. I am guessing that Jim Parsons added something special to his delivery, rather beyond what was rehearsed, during his napkin routine because Kaley's reactions and laughter seemed utterly sincere, not acted. Not to come across as a fanatic but I kept this show and have looked at the Penny/Leonard sofa scene and the Penny/Leonard/Sheldon gift exchange and if Kaley is only acting she deserves a special Emmy (in addition to a regular one for her other acting).
Watch the hug shot. Penny/Kaley looks genuinely befuddled by Sheldon's awkward approach and fumbling embrace. Then she cracks up for a moment and then clamps her lips shut. Then, the camera cuts away for a moment and comes back with a tighter shot of the two and their embrace is different (hands are positioned a little differently). Only then does Penny/Kaley look over ayt Leonard and deliver the line "Leonard, look -- Sheldon is hugging me!" I think she just lost it and they had to re-shoot that line.
Hey, it happened often enough with Carol Burnette, Harvey Korman, and Tim Conway.

I felt the same way with the Knock Knock "Penny" scene a couple eps back where she opened the door on the second Knock Knock. I suspect she was supposed to wait for the third knock, that the whispered third "Penny" was ad-libbed, and that her stifled laugh was a genuine reaction to the ad-lib and not scripted.
