Since everything on the internet is true i guess we have another season to look forward too!

Minor spoiler about existing character appearances on the show in the article:

Someone must have made a deal with the devil.

Defying the laws of television, which stipulate that series peak early and gradually dwindle, the CW horror series "Supernatural," now in its fourth season, is enjoying a ratings surge and all signs point to a renewal for a fifth year.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that article. It's not quoting anyone who makes a difference in the shows renewal or non renewal. Just the author speculating.

It's a good show. It sort of became everything I hoped that Night Stalker would be, as an old-time fan of the OS. I'll continue to watch it.

Have they had a season finale yet? I lost track. The holiday thing messes stuff up.

No season finale... it's a full slate of 22 episodes I think, so just about the first half of the season has aired.

Yeah, they're in the middle of Season 4. But I don't think there's much doubt that there will be a Season 5--they've planned it that way (five years) all along, and it's a pretty big hit by CW standards.

I thought the 5 season arc was essentially already agreed to? I mean, I know anything can happen but the ratings aren't tanking so...

Oh I have no doubt there will be a season five. I just don't think the article substantiated that in any concrete way.

Weren't they even talking about planning the show arc now for 7 seasons?

Its one of CW's highest rated shows, although that just means its slightly above awful in the ratings. Considering what it goes up against on Thurs. nights, it does pretty well. I could see them coming back for a fifth and sixth season if it continues.

You can't go by rateings anymore, Over half the country has DVR's except the neilsons.

Maybe you can't go by ratings, but like it or not ratings are what they go by when they decide to renew or cancel a show.
