Hi all,

My old Hughes GXCEBOTD unit bit the dust today... one of the two harddrives I had installed in it died. I dug out my old MFSTools boot CD and restored a backup from 2006 to a replacement hard drive and installed it. While I had the box opened I figured it was a good time to install the old Turbonet card I had lying around so I could do my "phone calls" over my home network instead of using the modem.

All went well except that when I check the software version, it says 3.5-01-1-031. I've forced 5 or 6 calls so far (over my home network, using ,#401) and rebooted twice, but the version number is still 3.5-01-1-031. The calls are completing successfully.

As I understand it, the current version is 3.5d, and the one I'm running lacks some important fixes like the Daylight Saving Time fix.

Will the update download automatically on one of these calls? Or is there something I have to do to force it?

Thanks,

Russ Arcuri

I believe the current version for you box is actually 3.5b.
You might just have to leave it hooked up & running for a little while & just have patience until it decides to update. Many of us have had this same problem on even the latest Tivo boxes...

I have been able to confirm that the current version is 3.5d for the Hughes GXCEB0T... but am still stuck at 3.5. I've forced two more calls in the past day and... nothing. The calls complete successfully, but the software stubbornly refuses to update.

I guess there's nothing more to do than be patient... if/when the update is installed, I'll make a new backup of the drive so if I have to restore again in the future at least I'll be starting with 3.5d. Of course by then the current version will probably be something newer...

HIGHLY doubt it - if you notice, the SI D-Tivo's did NOT even get the 24hr PPV update like all the others did. Stick a fork in it, D*'s done with these things... ;) :D

Just a followup for anybody who might have wondered about this. I checked today and the software is at 3.5D. So at some point since the last time I checked, it did update. I just don't know when, because I haven't checked it in at least a couple of weeks.
