I have my tivo box in my bedroom. it has a phone cord that goes from it to my dsl modem that is also in my bedroom. i want to move my tivo box out to the living room and hook it up to that direct tv box. that way i can use it out there. what do i need to do so i can have my tivo box do its updating and whatever over my dsl and not a phone line. there is no way i can run a phone line from the modem to it with it being in the living room. any suggestions?

What model TiVo is it?

I know this forum is entitled "DirecTV Receiver with TiVo" it is mainly for those that own the combined DirecTV and TiVo box.

So, the standalone TiVo forum may be of more help.

They can help with networking the TiVo.

A DSL line is a phone line. It has a low pass filter to prevent interference with phone service. The filters should have been delivered with the service. DSL filters can be purchased from Home Depot or Radio Shack.
