I thought I was being sold a lifetime membership; actually I had a lifetime membership and was offered another for a $179. I noticed over the last two months that my credit card was being billed so finally I looked into it and discovered that I was sold the goods. I can't tell you how pissed I am. I have been with tivo since the beginning and I've always had a lifetime membership and would never have bought the new machines if I knew what I was getting into. I am going to sell these machines and go to uVerse.

Uverse? Good luck with that. With only being able to watch/record two HD streams max.
you expected a lifetime membership for $179 when everyone else pays $399 on their first TiVo box? Be reasonable here.
Further, you can always check you membership/subscription status online, where you clearly will see whether you have lifetime membership or not. And lastly, you had 30 days to cancel if your subscription wasn't right.

Based upon the OP's own statements, he would have gotten his unit about 14 to 15 months ago. As far as I remember, the only Lifetime sub's available then were the transfers for $199.

With a free year on his old machine, which then turns into monthly. He's being charged for his old one from which he did the transfer.

Sounds like the only FRAUD being committed here is on the part of the OP in claiming that anything other than his/her own unfounded expectations are at fault here.

Not understanding what you're paying for is not the same as being defrauded...
