I have an SAT-T60 (with a drive upgrade) and I'm starting to get pixellations and audio hiccoughs. Any suggestions as to what's causing it?

Also,
If I was going to replace it, what was the best Directtivo unit? I figure I'll buy one on EBay and get another disk upgrade until I go HD Directtivo early 2010(?). If I don't get fed-up and get a Series 3 before then. I'm only paying the 4.95 or so a month combo fee atm, so not anxious to pay $12.95 a month. (I don't have the HD TV set yet either, so it's not a big deal).

I would just use the current box, if it can't be fixed, to playback my previously recorded programs.

I don't care about music played through my TV.

Philips DSR704/708 would be my first choice. You could even go for an HR10 and use it as a big-disk SD DVR with OTA capabilities.

It might just be a disk going bad on your T60. but I think you could buy a used S2 DTiVo for what it would cost for a new disk.

I was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago and decided to retire the T60 and purchase a used Hughes SD-DVR80 on ebay for around $80. It was about the same price as an imaged replacement drive but it has the latest series 2 SW that isn't available for the T60. There are some new ones listed but they were selling for over $100 when I was looking. You may also have to purchase a new access card from Directv. I got lucky and was able to use the access card from my dead HR10.
