I have the latest version of tivo desktop (2.6 I believe), my pc is running Vista, and my tivo is the TiVoHD.

when I try and play music that I purchased through itunes, I get a message on my tivo that says something like this "Can not play this file type".

Is there anyway around this?

Thanks!

Music purchased from the iTunes Music Store is generally protected by Apple's "fairplay" DRM -- and only Apple software/hardware knows how to decode them. You could burn the tracks to a CD-R (or CD-RW) and then re-import those tracks into iTunes.

will galleon be able to hand this without me having to jump through hoops?

Nope. Galleon will only play MP3 files.

So the only way around that is to strip off the DRM from your iTunes purchases and covert them to MP3. Once you do that, you can play them through TiVo Desktop or the iTunes app in Galleon (which I prefer).

You could also strip the DRM and leave them as unencrypted AAC files and then use Dan203's plugin (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=295778) for TiVo Desktop to play the files.
