Any news on when the new HD TiVo for DirecTV is going to appear?

My friends made the awful mistake of switching to Dish Network. They are very HD-oriented but they don't want to switch back to DirecTV until the HD DirecTiVo's are being offered. (They jointly announced their partnership in September.)

Does anyone have any inkling on when they will start offering it? Or are there any other signs of life?

Because it was announced as 2nd half 2009 when it was announced -- that could be as early as 7/1.

These things always come LATER than the press releases. I would be surprised to see it before 2010.

Like a DirecTV project is going to come in on time (even early) and be useable right out of the box. :rolleyes:

It took a year before the HR2x series was even useable. I wouldn't be holding my breath on this. With or without TiVo software on top of it.

This question comes up every few days here. Perhaps it should be made a "sticky".

I too would bet on first half of 2010. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's earlier, but I know how this game is played.
