If I have a TivoHD and S2 Tivo both networked in my home, can I share HD programming from the TivoHD to the S2 Tivo and view/display it in HD?
Can I have an S2 Tivo merely as a "client" to a TivoHD and use it to watch shows of my TivoHD in another room via networking without paying a service fee for the S2 Tivo?

No, the S2 cannot show HD content.
No, you need a subscription for MRV.

EEEK!! This is terrible news. How can anyone actually afford to have more than one tivo?? I mean, I can find an S2 used on craigslist that I would love to network with a TivoHD, but COME ON WITH THE SERVICE FEES ALREADY!!

You have several options here if you are working with a budget. First, you are entitled to the MSD (multi-service discount), which would mean your second TiVo would cost $9.95 monthly, or less if you sign a contract. Second, you can get lifetime service, which will pay for itself eventually as long as the TiVo doesn't crap out before the break-even date. Third, you can mix and match -- e.g., lifetime service on one, MSD on the other. I have lifetime on both my THD and S2, mostly because I hate service contract commitments. The S2 has survived long past its break-even date, and I expect the THD to do the same. FWIW, I don't care much about MRV'ing the HD content to the S2 because most of the HD programming I watch is also available in SD and is recorded by the S2 anyway (I guess it helps that the drive in the S2 is upgraded, which is quite inexpensive if you do it yourself). Hope this helps in some way.

I find it ironic that someone that can afford two HD televisions is complaining about affording a second TiVo. :D
