I've seen a couple of posts regarding video sharing issues with the new fall 2008 update. I have a PPC G5 running 1.9.3 (008) and have been successfully sharing videos for quite a while. I didn't even know 1.9.4 was available....
1st - what did 1.9.4 add?
2nd - has anyone had problems with the unsupported "video" tab with 1.9.4?
I just wish Tivo would finally take a step out of the 1990's and start supporting Mac's FULLY.

1.9.4 fixed the issue where the metadata in the .tivo files changed and .tivo files generated by version 9.x or higher wouldn't be visible on the TiVo when the hidden video tab was enabled.
However, it also looks like 1.9.4 introduced a problem in that the Macintosh won't shutdown or restart if the preference pane is enabled and running -- when it's being used on Tiger (10.4.x)

Ah! So if I have no .TiVo files from "pre 9.x" I should be fine keeping 1.9.3 with the new fall 2008 update? I'd hate another forced upgrade ruin my tivogoback functionality with tiger.

Sorry -- it's the other way around. Only pre-9.x .tivo files work with 1.9.3
If you have post-9.x files, you need 1.9.4
It doesn't break it with Tiger -- just causes issues with regard to trying to restart or shutdown the computer. There are posts here that say that running it on a non-admin account doesn't have that issue. You may want to search for those posts

Hmm... That's strange. I had 9.x (until this morning) and was running 1.9.3 and everything worked just fine - at least I assume it was. I could transfer shows back and forth easily. Now after 11.x this morning everything seems just fine as well.
Was it not a universal problem? Thanks for the insight.

For those of you having shutdown problems with 1.9.4, we've updated our online knowledge article titled "How to install or uninstall TiVo Desktop for Mac" (http://support.tivo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1202/kw/uninstall%20mac/r_id/100041#reinstalling) to include instructions on how to downgrade to 1.9.3.
