View Full Version : Recent update broke everything?

Everything has been more or less ok with my TiVo service through comcast, besides the usual gripes about speed and usability. But yesterday, after not watching TV for several days, I turned it on to catch a recording of the Daily Show.

The box was mysteriously reset to 480i Fixed, which has only ever happened after a software update from Comcast, and when I first got the tivo service (and the dumbass who installed it insisted that 480i is HD, and that the stretched 4:3 picture is inevitable and "the way it's supposed to be." sheesh)

Anyway, I reset it to 1080i fixed, and went to the list of recordings, but all of a sudden the shows are no longer grouped by name, I just have one long list of recordings. And many older recordings, such as Battlestar Galactica, from this past spring, no longer even have show titles, just the channel name and record time.

Lastly, all my season passes are gone.

Has anyone else seen this? was there an update that broke everything? this is really annoying, and you'd think that for the extra money you have to pay for tivo service you'd at least get something that's a little more thoroughly tested.

Although my ComcastTivo was busted by a recent update... the symptoms are completely different.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the next time I turn on the TV, it's messed up in the same way.

Wish I could recreate the classic Fax Machine scene from Office Space substituting this ComcastTivo box for the fax machine.

Worst $3/month I've ever spent.

whatever happened seems like it's not going to be un-doable. I reset some of my season passes, and it began picking up those shows last night. These new recordings are grouped into folders just like they used to be. So, the concept of folders isn't broken, but anything that was recorded previously is no longer in a folder.

The other weird thing is that there's no longer a TiVo Suggestions folder, those recordings are just dumped at the top level, which is annoying. Most of those I'm just not interested in.

Right now, my comcast tivo is just refusing to record anything, regardless of how often I power cycle it.

It's probably better this way, because it will force me to watch everything I've got recorded in time to dump it when the real Tivo arrives.

Same thing happened here. My box had already been running v1.05, so I'm not sure what caused this to happen.

My house is a happier place now that Comcast took away that POS Motorola set top box and installed a glorious Motorola M-card.

The difference in responsiveness of a TivoHD over a Comcast Tivo is like night and day....

Looking forward to get a lifetime of Tivo service out of my lifetime sub. :-)
