hopefully i will give someone all the info to help me to get this working. I have a toshiba series 2 tivo. i just installed a wireless linksys router and i have the tivo wireless adapter. the tivo is now running on broadband thru the router just fine. i installed tivo desktop because i would like to transfer my shows to my pc. when i go in to tivo desktop and click pick recordings to transfer, it tells me it cannot connect.
when i purchased my tivo it came with the basic service so when i tried to activate my dvr in the manage my accounts it wouldn't let me. is this my problem? i hope some of this makes sense to someone or please let me know what other info you need to help.
Thanks so much.

All of the Home Media features require an active paid subscription plan. TiVo Basic only gets you guide info and software updates.

but i really did pay for the service, it was the lifetime. do they not consider that a paid subscription?
thanks for your help

TiVo basic is not lifetime. Some eBay sellers claim it is to confuse buyers into thinking they are getting more for their money than they really are. Could that be the case here?

i don't know. i know i've had mine for about 3 years and only paid one lump sum when i bought the tivo from sears.

Look on the system information screen, it will tell you what you have.

I agree with the others here that it sounds like you have TiVo Basic and not TiVo Plus. As Mark suggests, a check of the System Information screen will confirm this.
