Found an interesting article on engadget today, looks like some users are seeing "Available in high definition" when choosing certain titles.

Ahh the cool breeze of competition in the marketplace! This is completely wonderful - multiple parties (Amazon and Netflix) in the same box - this will force them to be that much more aggressive on price, picture quality, and title availability. 2009 will be a fun year for staying in and watching lots of HD :)

I have this "Available in High Definition" option as well now...however, selecting it only brings me to the normal Unbox listing (Most Popular, Top Picks, etc...) When I selected a show (Get Smart), it said nothing about a "HD" version.
I'm wondering if the HD link isn't really "live" yet?

Now if there was just a standard format so customers wouldn't have to be tied to specific hardware, there would be real competition... but at least TiVo is able to have multiple providers. Maybe there IS a standard Microsoft DRM being used? if so, can we look forward to more components that can do it all from multiple sources?

it's a placeholder, wonder why they even put it there now... it just takes you to regular movies.
According to this story (http://www.slashgear.com/tivo-deny-amazon-hd-imminent-0325026/) TiVo says to pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. Amazon HD is not imminent, they say.

And just like that ... "poof" HD selection option is gone.
That being said, I will more likely grab an occasional unbox HD movie versus reupping with Netflix.

This just might force me into the attic with a roll of CAT5.

That being said, I will more likely grab an occasional unbox HD movie versus reupping with Netflix.I've really been enjoying the Netflix thing on my Xbox, even given the annoying noise factor--I'm strongly hoping that the interface is as slick on TiVo. I have a nominally 10 Mbps cable modem link and the PQ of everything I've watched has been quite nice. No recent big ticket theatrical releases available (though some, in SD widescreen, from Starz Play), but lots of recent release indie films, many in HD, which I enjoy (nearly all of the HDNet/Magnolia Films productions, in HD). There are also several current seasons of some CBS drama series in HD, as well as a couple of things from NBC. CSI: Miami this season overlaps two programs that I value more, so I stopped recording it--I've been catching up on Netflix WI; I missed an episode of NCIS the other night (because my TiVo was "jammed") and I watched that on WI as well.
Very cool, particularly as it comes at no extra charge :D.
I wonder what the hold up is for Unbox HD? I bought a few Unbox downloads yesterday (of House and Fringe, due to the same TiVo cockup that made me miss NCIS). It would have been nice if HD had been available, as it was for NCIS on Netflix.

Whats taking Tivo so long to implement this? They seem awful slow to implement technology like this that should be pretty standard in today's market.

For me, another reason for Unbox over Netflix is I have "only" a 3mb connection. I am worried that this may not be enough for a stream. Whereas with Unbox, I could kick it off before bed (or maybe even a bit before), and should be there in the morning, or at least by the next evening.
