I was on Cable for a while, but when I moved to my new home, ATT | Dish had dropped their commitment time so I thought I'd try that for a while.

Not really fun.

The interface to the Dish HD DVR seemed archaic and it took a while before my Humax S2 DVD TiVo and SD Dish tuner made nice. It wasn't TiVo's issue, but an issue of how the Dish tuner handled 'unsubscribed channels'. My other S2 TiVos (including one DT) ended being more than just glorified Media Boxes that could only get its content from Multi Room Viewing or download from PC (and some web).

So, when TiVo HD hit $179 refurbed, I bit the bullet, changed back to Time Warner (Dallas) and got the TiVo HD.

I missed the BaDoop and now my S2s have purpose again if it means just analog channels that could go away in a few years (not to be confused with the over the air transition).

So, I head to Fry's where I am able to obtain the My DVR Extender for $119 due to in store and open box discounts. That's compared to $199.99 online at TiVo.com

Now, I am enjoying You Tube, moving HD back and forth between my TiVoHD and PC, and other various content between TiVoHD, TiVoS2, PC, iPod Touch, and iPhone... ah.. sweet media heaven. Even downloaded the new Star Trek trailer in HD and was able to view it via TiVoHD on my 65" TV. That was nice.

Waiting with baited breath for the NetFlix.

Then came the bit where I needed to cancel my ATT | Dish service. First time around the "accidentally" kept directing me to the wrong department. Eventually, I was able to get to someone that could actually cancel my account.

I was asked why I was canceling my service. I said bluntly "I missed my TiVo". The response was "You missed your tivo?" I then went into about a 25 second spiel that basically recapped the above. I think I blew the rep away as she didn't realize TiVo did all that (I have 'sold' TiVo HD to several people over the past month and I think I may have done another).

Now, that's over, I wait to see if TiVo does anything on Black Friday and then it's off to get another TiVo HD so I can MRV from the Media Room to the bedroom.

Can't wait!

Good Tip... may need that if not as lucky at Fry's next time. But there goes the instant gratification. At least I'm an Amazon Prime member.

$113.99 now. Not eligible for Prime though. It's through a retailer, which will mean a shipping charge too.

I always buy everything directly form Amazon if possible because I have Prime, which means free 2 day shipping, and an Amazon Visa which earns triple points for everything bought from Amazon.
